About Us

MISSION:
AVENTURA AND NORTH MIAMI / MIAMI BEACH AREA – FLORIDA

There was a void in this geographical area for any type of support group to aid Parkinson’s Disease patients on a continual basis. Since 2008, we have provided for the members of this group, their caregivers, and family members the following services and presentations: speakers, workshops, exercise classes, pertinent and current research and information, socially structured activities for and between members, monthly meetings, newsletters, yoga and a belief that PD patients are not alone and they must live with hope.

THE ISSUE

Parkinson’s disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s, affecting more than a million people in the United States and an estimated four million worldwide. The prevalence of the disease is expected to increase substantially in the next 20 years due to the aging of the population in the U.S., Europe and globally, as well as an increase in the age-related incidence of the disease.
